LANGKAWI - MALAYSIA and Singapore agreed on Tuesday to work together in the development of Malaysia's southern state of Johor.
Late last year, Malaysia unveiled a US$105 billion (S$160 billion) blueprint to develop 2,200 sq km of the state and turn the state capital, Johor Baru, into a new Asian boom town.
The plan calls for Singapore investors to help finance the projects.
Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong said after a meeting with his Malaysian counterpart, Mr Abdullah Ahmad Badawi, on Tuesday that the two sides would set up a joint ministerial panel to cooperate in the development of the so-called Iskandar zone. -- REUTERS
